application, preparation
It is possible to join in at the beginning of any of the three terms. The Minimum age is 19 years old. No specific school exams are necessary. The course will be held in German, so a good working knowledge of the language is essential. If you don't live too far away, we would invite you to hospitation and a personal talk. Otherwise please contact us. For when the next Term begins see: welcome page.
application
We would ask for a hand-written biographical sketch with your application, noting any educational qualifications, and special career or artistic interests. In addition please write your reasons for coming, your wishes and goals for the Seminar. Please include three pass photos to be sent to our contact address. We would then send you a contract (download, german) for the Seminar and further documents. For applications from non-European countries we would ask for a down-payment of 500 Euros for the first term. The rest of the fees are to be paid before you begin your study (see seminar costs). Students who require a visa will receive the necessary documents for the consulate or embassy, after the initial down-payment (see visa).
preparation
How much preparation is undertaken for the youth seminar depends a lot on yourself. It is helpful, before you begin, to have read the first chapters of „Theosophy“ (Theosophie), the „Knowledge Theory of Goetheanistic World View“ (Erkenntnistheorie der goetheschen Weltanschauung) „Philosophy of Freedom“ (Philosophie der Freiheit) by Rudolf Steiner. Particularly the foreign students are hereby helped to enter into the spiritual work with greater speed. But as these works are studied very thoroughly in the Seminar it is not pre-requisite. Preparation for all the courses can also be undertaken (see links for literature info at staff description). The most important thing to bring with you is openness and impartiality towards the Seminar, your colleagues, the Staff and the programme….. and above all towards yourself!
pack-list
What to bring see the pack-list (download, German). For seminarists from abroad there is a special pack-list (download, German)
living and gaining language skills before the seminar starts
Especially for the foreign students there is the possibility to come and live at the Youth Seminar before the actual seminar begins, in order to learn the language, and/or to start with the financing of the studies. There are a variety of language institutes in Stuttgart, and both the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (IFA) or the Volkshochschule Stuttgart (VHS) offer courses at varying degrees of proficiency. We are happy to help you further.
