A day in the Jugendseminar usually has a basic structure, an everyday schedule that brings a healthy rhythm into our lives and gives us the opportunity to ask questions and be occupied with important themes. On top of our schedule and in our free time, each one, of course, has different plans and routines.
Every morning, four people are waking up earlier than the others and preparing breakfast for everyone. Then they also need to wake up the others by singing, playing, or just knocking on their door. We eat breakfast together, and at eight we meet everyone in a big room to start the day with singing, moving, or any warmup of 15 minutes.
Our first class every day changes every week from the subject of personal biography work to sickness and destiny to a week about bees and their work and a lot of different topics. We have a pause, and then we split into our trimesters, and each group then has two classes. One week we have Bothmer and speech formation one after the other, and the next week Theosophy and Eurythmy, each with a short break between the two lessons. And this always alternates from week to week.
At one o’clock, we meet as a whole group again to eat lunch together. After one and a half hours of lunch break, we have one class until four. This is two times a week cleaning the house, one time choir, and one time meeting as a community where we can also share information with each other. In the middle of the week, every Wednesday, we also have one free afternoon where some people that want to work together work on the Philosophy of Freedom together. But these lessons are at everyone’s discretion. We also have two evenings in the week when we meet each other: Thursday for a seminar evening, where we meet and can decide what we want to do with this time. On Sunday evening, we also meet briefly to share with each other important information and to start the week.
What can a seminarist also find himself doing during the week?
The typical seminarist can also find himself cooking together with friends in the evening, singing in the hallway because there is a good acoustic, complaining that the kitchen is dirty again, doing a fire outside, talking for hours with different people hearing about different cultures in the world, going to buy food, waking up early to do Bothmer, Eurythmy, running or doing a cold bath, lay outside in the sun and read a book, cuddle for hours with people, dance together, watching a movie together and a lot of other beautiful and interesting experiences.
