“Try-out days” at the seminar...
We warmly invite you to gain a first impression of the Jugendseminar before you decide to participate.
You can take part in the seminar courses and meals for two to three days and stay here for a small fee.
Participation in the courses is free of charge. If you are seriously considering joining the seminar then it would be good to bring your application forms with you.
Application and preparation
Entry into the Freie Jugendseminar is possible three times a year at the beginning of each four-month term. You should be at least 18 years old. We do not require a special school-leaving certificate. We are interested in your motivation!
The course will be held in German, so you need good German language skills.
We recommend a one or two-day trial visit with us. This can be followed by a personal interview. The starting dates of the current term can be found on the start page.
Residence
The Seminar house lies in a quiet area, with open views, about ten minutes away from the centre of Stuttgart. The Seminarists live together in a shared house, in single or double rooms and have the use of the common rooms.

Costs and Finances
Costs are 2.300 € per term, or approx 575 € per month. This includes, house management costs, food and lodging (breakfast and midday meal on week days). The two study trips are extra and cost 300€ each.
Finances should not hinder you from your studies. We can help you with finding ways to pay for the seminar and inform you about what assistance we can offer.
Visa
EU citizens do not require a residence permit or work permit in Germany. The so-called eastward- extension countries: Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Estonia and Latvia are still an exception. Students from these countries must apply for a work permit from the Employment Agency, but this is only a formality.
